动作片一向是好莱坞的看家菜，2008年也不例外，届时银幕上将不乏老、中、青三代动作明星的身影。除了迟暮英雄不服老再度出山外，连一些演正剧出身的演技派也开始尝试着过一把动作明星的瘾：

距离兰博上一次端起冲锋枪已是20年了，我们的英雄早已放下屠刀。然而一个基督教人权传教士组织还是说服了他，护送其前往缅甸对受迫害的克伦族人进行人道主义援助。不过缅甸士兵抓走了这些传教士，并残忍的虐待他们。兰博必须在最短时间里集合起一支雇佣军以救出那些救援人员，老英雄又要大开杀戒了。
史泰龙这次似乎想展示他的多才多艺，除了主演、担任制片人，影片的编剧和导演工作也一并包揽，倒是让制片公司省了不少钱。
